During the Great Depression the government pulled out all the stops—at least the ones they felt would benefit their agenda—and one of the tools in their bag of tricks was to turn around the public fear of inflation, and present it as a good thing. The following propaganda video is an example of their efforts. The video is about 10 minutes, but it’s an education in itself just observing the lengths to which government will go to promote its programs.
Inflation isn’t our friend; it’s a thief that steals from those least able to afford it. While you may earn 10% on your money market account, the money you spend doesn’t go as far as you need. Inflation robs those on Social Security, for the government manipulates the CPI to avoid having to increase Social Security payments to keep pace with real increases in the cost of living.
